Dg2015 got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Website Design for Niche Movie Website
Check out Dg2015's Web page design contest…
Entertainment & The Arts
We are launching a new website to contains a large catalog of niche indie films. Our website does not sell or rent these films, so there is no "add to cart" functionality. Instead, our users can see what's new in this specific niche market, rate films, view film trailers, view DVD release dates, and see places where they can buy the films on DVD.
tlavideo.com - clean, simple navigation, however kind of boring tcm.com/tcmdb/ - though this design has an old movie feel (my website is NOT old movies), I think it's unique and professional and fits with Turner Classic Movies. My website's users are younger -- average age 20 - 45.
The page we would like designed is the home page which will drive the same look and feel throughout the entire site. NOTE: A PDF mockup of the basic concept is attached. There should be a search bar on the page where users can search for films. There should be a button to log in or join the website. The top of the page has a block that shows users the top few movies of the week. In the attached example, you will see Call of Duty. The block will show images of the top movies (loaded from our database). In the left column you will see links for Genres, New Releases, etc. These are for users to select areas of the website they'd like to view. In the right column, you will see blocks of the Popular Movies of the week and New Movies on DVD. The bottom of the page contains navigation to About Us, Terms, etc. The mockup given was to show you a basic concept of the website. However, do not feel constrained by it! Feel free to move content around or propose new ideas.
Elements should have a high-quality, professional, look. Example: buttons should have a shine The design should have a rectangular placeholder for the logo. Note: we have not selected a domain name yet, so we don't know the exact name. (We'll be holding a logo design contest later this year for the logo!)

It all began with a design brief.

Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
Dg2015 collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
