Randy Milbert got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Bigwigs web site redesign
Check out Randy Milbert's Web page design contest…
Bigwigs is a web site that enables people to quickly identify and analyze top executives at public companies.
I would like to do a complete redesign of the existing Bigwigs web site. I would like something that is irreverent, maybe cartoonish or comic-book-ish, somewhat poking fun at these executives and their loads of money. I would like a web site with a very unique/memorable brand/look within this space. I would also like the web site to be informative, however, with an intelligent, dense information layout, but one that does not feel cluttered. By the way, the existing web site has a Bigwigs logo, but this is just a temporary placeholder. Feel free to replace it as part of the web site redesign. I would love to have a new/much better logo. Also, I am not partial to the existing color scheme. Feel free to use any color scheme that you like. I am looking for a web site/logo design that is very different from what I have now.
I would like to completely redesign the Bigwigs home page (https://bigwigs.us), company pages (e.g. https://bigwigs.us/polaris-industries), and person pages (e.g. https://bigwigs.us/polaris-industries/scott-w-wine). The goal of the person page is to convey all the information that we have about a given executive (e.g. Scott Wine). The goal of the company page is to convey all of the information that we have about a given company (e.g. Polaris Industries). The goal of the home page is to introduce Bigwigs and help the user find information about relevant/interesting companies/executives.
What to avoid
Other web sites that provide information about corporate executives (e.g. insider stock trades and compensation) are stuffy, cluttered, and generic. For example: http://www.insider-monitor.com/trader/cik1442049.html http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/pii/insiders?pid=37516460 http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/pii/insider-trades http://people.equilar.com/bio/scott-wine-polaris-industries-/salary/610691 http://www1.salary.com/Scott-W-Wine-Salary-Bonus-Stock-Options-for-POLARIS-INDUSTRIES-INC.html
