MountainYeti got their new t-shirt by running a design contest:
t-shirt design for A triathlon (swim/bike/run event) at a historic site

We organize triathlons, swims and road races in northeastern U.S.
What's your vision?
I'm interested in a new design for the shirts that we give to athletes who are coming to our 2012 triathlon. The event has a logo which athletes have come to identify with the race. Rather than have it as a simple image over the left pocket or middle of shirt like we've done in the past, I'd love to see something creative done with it, perhaps using elements from the existing logo, different color scheme or something completely new. >If we go with long-sleeve shirts, I like the idea of having "hudson" go up (or down) one sleeve and "crossing" go up (or down) the other. I do like the font and all-caps in the existing logo for the lettering on the sleeves. Addition of US and British flag elements in the design is good. Prefer not to see a swimmer, biker or runner. Simple, minimal is good. The colors of the shirts themselves have yet to be determined so if you have suggestions of the shirt color based on your design we are open to that too. We tend to give one color to athletes and another color (one that stands out as far as visibility) to volunteers/staff. Thank you.
Race web site for additional info is hudsoncrossingtri.com. A shirt design that captures the spirit of the event, the venue and the history of the area is great - the history goes back to the Revolutionary War.
