A book about how to use flowers to send secret coded messages!
What's your vision?
I'd like a design for the cover of the book. It will be printed in silver or gold foil on black leather, and the size of a moleskine (3.5 x 5.5 inches). My idea is to have the word "Cryptofloricon" in a slightly distressed blackletter font across the top, with an emblem based on this symbol underneath: http://www.eetsurveys.org.uk/rose%20symbol%2010%25%20black.jpg The emblem would have to be adapted to match the text in distressed-ness and decoration style - feel free to use the above image as a starting point and get creative. I'm looking for something arcane, like an alchemical symbol, but not too busy, and it can't look too much like a pentagram or similar satanic symbol, it must be unmistakeably floral. Simple is probably better. It's meant to feel a little bit like a book of spells. The text cannot be too illegible though - I find often Y and FL are hard to read in blackletter fonts. Something characterful and a bit decorated might be nice. Here are some ideas for font: http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/lillie/zarlino/ http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/lettering-delights/castle/ http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/itfmecanorma/caslon-antique/ http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/aerotype/octoberfest/ This is not legible enough: http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/sherwood/p22-canterbury/ It doesn't HAVE to be blackletter if you can think of a good alternative that still gives an old, "grimoire" feel to it. If you have a strong idea, you might have some luck with something like: http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/comicraft/near-myth/ or even http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/scriptorium/malagua/ Ideally you'd give this to me as a rescalable vector. I think the emblem would also make a good logo! If you use a pre-existing font, please let me know which one you used so I can use it elsewhere in the project.
Thank you for working on my project!
