Artfully timed street photography which specializes in a gritty, old school, black & white look which evoke underlying emotions to essentially capture the "decisive moment".
Logo types to explore
I am looking for a logo that can identify myself and my form of photography. I have seen way too many photography logos which look the same. They all seem to be a mash of initials in a sleek, modern font. I do love that style, and I do believe it is very attractive most of the time, but it doesn't exude who and what they do at all, especially when everyone seems to be following this trend. An icon, emblem, or some sort of symbol which incorporates a rangefinder camera (ex: Leica M9P) would be nice, but not necessary. This logo shouldn't be bubbly, cheap, or comical. However, it shouldn't look over-the-top luxurious. Something which looks exclusive, but still approachable. Since this logo may also be used as a watermark, I would like to tread more towards the less flamboyant and more subtle side of designs. I would not want the logo to distract or take away from the photograph. The logo should be attractive on black & white photographs. A tad more subtle is suggested. Street Evoker Photography, Street Evoker Limited Edition Street Photography.. etc. These may be used as well as including my name (Joseph Lee) if it looks right. So, what is Street Photography? Well, most people who haven't been exposed to street photography consider it to be taking candid photos. However, street photography is much more technical and subliminal. There is the spontaneous nature of candid photography, yet a method to the madness. Allow these photos to explain: Example 1> http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6080/6122660372_cb1ae3b777_z.jpg In this photo, there is a serendipitous moment, where a girl who wears a striped shirt mirrors the crosswalk. Also, the bus which passes by, serves as guiding line to the girl and the crosswalk, as well as her direction of destination. There is only one chance at moments like these where timing is everything. Awareness, creative vision, and reaction are what I would love to express. The epitome of elusive "Decisive Moment" which famous street photographer, Henri Cartier Bresson defined. Geometry, balance, and emotional content is also key. The photo above is simply a description of a girl who wants to get home (i'm assuming) from the posture and the binds between her and the crosswalk to her destination. Example 2> http://www.flickr.com/photos/streetevoker/6141730603/in/set-72157627612006290/lightbox/ This photo is simply a man and a woman (a couple perhaps) who shares a brief moment. Other content which completes this photograph is the coincidence of only seeing one of each of their legs as well as the pigeon in the corner. The long lines of the bench relates to the background of the similar lines of the ship. The shape of the trees and the similar shape of the clouds are also a factor here. -- Here are more examples of my photojournalism work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/streetevoker/sets/72157627612006290/ Here are examples of my photojournalism work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/streetevoker/sets/72157629377796482/ Here is an insightful article of Henri Cartier Bresson which defines much of my form of photography: http://erickimphotography.com/blog/2010/07/%E2%80%9Chow-to-masterthe-decisive-moment%E2%80%9D/ Here is an example of one of HCB's photos which express diversity and depth: http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa322/erickimphotography/HCB/henri_cartier_bresson-squares.jpg
