paul.globig got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Shape a brand: Old factory turned eco-farm. Welcome to the family!
Check out paul.globig's Logo design contest…
We are a family-run startup working on restoring a historical factory situated right at a high bank of the river Elbe in Germany. Our concept for the future includes both a touristic and agricultural use of the property. Including: Camping-site, holiday-flats, event-locations, inn and farm shop with organic goods we (will) produce on site like: Herbs, Honey, Nuts, Fruits, Berries and (later probably) products we'll make from them. Our taget audience will be tourists traveling by cajak/kanoe or bike and locals looking for a special place for events or celebrations. The factory is located in a protected landscape and has been used historically for processing different local agricultural products. Therefore it is central for us to put a great focus on being as ecological and socially responsible as possible and becoming a force for positiv development within our local rural community. At this point we only want (can afford) to have a logo designed. (We are still in a very early state of our project.) We will probably need more designs (i.e. for product packaging) in the future and aim for a long time cooperation with a designer who we'd like to become an important part of our brand identity and our family-project.
Other color requirements
Colors should also work when used in a monochrome setting. (Maybe even as a branding on wood)
The name "Flachswerk" (german) can be translated as "flax factory" (flax=linen). Before processing flax the factory was used for processing potatoes, corn and at some point even tobacco. We do not intent to restart using the factory this way (none of the old machines were left when we started). Nonetheless it could be interesing if a subtle hint somewhere in the logo could link our modern approach with the history (and name) of the place. The name can not be changed, as it is ingrained in local memory. We would prefer a (pictorial) logo that works with and without text ("Flachswerk") or maybe even an Emblem-type logo. But we are open to different suggestions. Suprise us! The "Flachswerk" is located at the small village of Steutz. It was originally build in 1906. We bought it late in 2016. This information could (but do not have to) be integrated into the logo. Due to the terrible condition the property was in, even after much work we wont be able to firstly open it to the public before mid 2020. The tall chimney (and in some cases the silo next to it) can be seen protuding from the forest from very far away (landmark). That's why we would like to see it integrated into the logo. Other buildings that could (but do not have to) be included are the old factory building (the big hall made of red bricks) and/or the villa. The river Elbe could also be integrated. We would like the logo to have a recognition factor to the effect that people who have seen the logo instinctivly recognise our factory (or chimney) when they see them. (And the other way around) The logo can be abstract or more lifelike but should work in small and big formats (colored or monochrome and maybe even as a branding on wood). It should have a light, friendly vibe while still showing the age and history of the property. This is only a suggestion of cause. We would also be open to totally different ideas that are creative and achieve a similar effect. Thank you very much.
