ashley_nuttall got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Niche commodity traders need new logo

Arcadia started as a pure oil trading company, but is now a niche commodity trade house, covering the oil, petroleum, energy (power and gas) and agricultural markets. It is also likely to expand to cover the metals market. It offers a bespoke and personal service that the large investment banks are unable to offer. We are currently reviewing our website design and so the logo would form an important part of how the website would look. We could send you a link to the current content of the website so you can understand our business in more detail.
Other color requirements
We have discussed the colour palette and current suggestions for the main colour are either a grey/blue or grey with possibly a very small accent of an orange colour, although if you feel another palette would be preferable we would be open to seeing different options. Orange is a colour that is up for debate as a few people in the office are keen to see as an accent and a few are not keen at all so we need options!
The “holding company” is called ARCADIA TRADING, however it has four companies under it’s umbrella which are: • ARCADIA AGRI • ARCADIA PETROLEUM • ARCADIA ENERGY • ARCADIA AUSTRALIA In the future there may also be ARCADIA METALS FOR THIS CONTEST, we will be focusing on the parent company’s logo. We would envisage that the logo would be an icon and wordmark and would work on all levels. The icon could stay the same for all subsidiaries and the text could be changed. We will likely want to work with our winning designer in a 1-to-1 project to differentiate the sub brands, so this is not required as part of the contest. We wanted to make it clear from the start that the logo should be adaptable in this way because it will likely effect how you design the work. Currently there is little synergy with the four sub brands in terms of logos, web design etc and we are keen to change this. We would be interested in how you would interpret a logo that somehow represents a global, forward thinking, commodity trading company. Once we have finalised a logo that we are happy with we would like the winning designer to possibly help us to slightly differentiate the sub brands in a follow up project. Ideally, as well as designing a logo that works across all brands, you would design a graphic symbol that could be used on the website and possibly other literature – business cards etc, that symbolizes each of the sub brands. Eg the Agri symbol could be some kind of grain symbol etc. See for example one of our competitor websites https://www.intlfcstone.com and their use of symbols in the navigation bar that represents their different markets. This can be discussed as a separate project once the logo is approved. The current logo is very dated (see attached) and we would like a logo that reflects our company ethos. We have offices in London, Singapore, America and Australia and cover many of the commodity markets. The logo should not be too literal as we cover too many markets. If you think there is a way of adapting the individual sub brands to incorporate some difference, then we would be open to suggestions, but the main logo should be the same for all the sub brands but with the wording somehow changing. In terms of font / lettering, the style should be modern yet sophisticated. Competitors are as follows - although not overly impressed with any of their logos: FC Stone - www.intlfcstone.com EDF Man - edfman.com Cargill - www.cargill.co.uk Bunge - www.bunge.com Louis Dreyfus - www.ldcom.com
