My ethnicity is Hmong. It is an ethnic group living in Southern China and Laos. I have been a farmer since I was a young girl in my country of Laos. Arriving in the United States in 1979 in my mid-30s, I went to work in manufacturing and service industries, but have always wanted to farm and to return to my roots. In the late 80s, I was able to lease acres of land that I began to farm in the U.S. As a result, I have been able to raise my 10 children and put them through school because of my farm labor and love for farming and agriculture.
I want to capture my Hmong heritage and culture and the symbols we use in my culture in my logo. Our colors are often bright. The colors are evident in our clothes and tapestry. I would like my logo to express my heritage and the idea that I have bloomed new roots here in the U.S. I came here as a refugee but I am now a citizen of the U.S.
I like green colors because I grow vegetables. I like purple and white colors because my flowers that are locally grown are these colors. I would like my logo to represent my love of farming, nature, and being in the natural elements. I want it to integrate my American and Hmong cultures.
