The idea for the name Starfish Revenue Management comes from our company structure--an open network of medical billers, coders, collection specialists, customer service agents, etc. Starfish, you may recall from high-school biology, essentially have a decentralized organic system. This decentralization feature is what inspired our Starfish name as it reflects our corporate structure.

New logo design for a company that specializes in revenue cycle management in the healthcare industry.
Revenue cycle management describes the capturing of revenue for healthcare providers. It includes the process of encoding the patient-provider interaction, preparing and submitting the encoded transaction for third-party reimbursement, collecting and accounting the incoming revenue, and following up when the revenue is not forthcoming (incomplete encoded information, denials management, and patient-required payments or collections).

What I like about these images:
(1) Definitely think red or an interesting variant of a red is a terrific idea, especially as it contrasts with another color (in this case greenish)
(2) Most starfish have five legs (we should probably stick with that number) but the leg shape should not be too thick (as in the first red/green photo) or too thin as to be insubstantial.
(3) It's not necessary for the logo to include the entire starfish structure. A successful logo could just be the clever suggestion of a starfish or part of one.
(4) I'm open to how the name Starfish Revenue Management interacts with the logo graphic. You could abbreviate "revenue management" to "RM" or put it to the side. Or, you could drop the Management and show only "Starfish Revenue". The full name would appear elsewhere anyway.
Words that describe the "feeling" we're looking for in this logo:
Easy, Clean
Simple
Intriguing
Hint of technophilia
