mikehapner got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Help Southern Arc with a new logo
Check out mikehapner's Logo design contest…
Southern Arc restores plastic injection mold components. Plastic products are created by injecting molten plastic into a 2 halves (cavity and core) of a metal mold. These 2 mold components open and close constantly causing wear to the metal. Southern Arc uses high-tech methods to restore those parts to like-new condition for a fraction of the cost to replace.
Logo types to explore
The key concept that the owner would like to convey throughout the branding process is that the company returns the molds to "new" condition and that green represents that renewal. Red represents the damage to the part, and represents wear and missing metal. Again -- the restoration process replaces the missing metal that causes the finished plastic products to be defective. Another concept for consideration is that the missing metal is Negative (-) and metal that is replaced is additive or positive (+) This doesn't have to necessarily be explicitly represented in the logo itself, but I offer it as guidance. Additionally -- we want to convey that the service has a *fast* turnaround to get the production line back online quickly. Please look at http://southernarc.com for the basic look and feel of the brand. Simple and clean. The logo that is there now is just a placeholder. Update: here's another idea that we have -- a variant / deformation of the internationally recognizable recycling symbol might be appropriate. 1) We are in the plastics industry that is familiar with the symbol and prints it on most of their products 2) Southern Arc actually "recycles" the mold components. I've attached a screenshot to the brief for reference.
