Fairybrand was very easy to work with and delivered wonderful files!
The first round, to choose designers to final round, I think it's too urgent. Most designers wouldn't have really something far different with their original proposals. Which means the first round is almost decide the final logo, and there are only few days for collect ideas from designers.
Regarding the <Blind>, I find it cannot be changed after the contest begin. I think Blind is to avoid other designers copy the idea by customer's rating in 4~5 stars. And it will decrease more ideas that customer can see from others. However, when it's going to final, customer has already some thoughts in mind, there will be some designers can't change their ideas from their original designs. Customer would like to see different details showed by different designer, with the one he almost decide to select. It will be sorry for the others who keep presenting knew design day by day, but customer wouldn't call him/her to stop, cause we still waiting for something might come up and we'll love it.
I prefer <Blind> function could change in anytime by customer themselves.

This is a higher end motel in San Diego. Although there are ritzier places all around them very few have the amazing beach access right out the door. This is their current website: http://delmarmotelonthebeach.com/. You are NOT to contact the client in any way as we are building a website and the logo is part of the scope of project (anyone contacting the hotel will immediately be disqualified). It's a clean friendly place with room rates of $300 a night during high season, so their clientele is from a wealthier background. Their clients are families (who come back year after year), surfers, people going to a nearby racetrack. Other hotel properties in this area charge $600 to $1000 a night, so it is a value hotel for the area. Their key selling features are friendly staff, beach access, community barbecues, central location, parking.

It is bold yet simple and makes good use of color
I like the simplicity and clarity of the monochromatic design. I want color in the Del Mar logo, but clarity is important. Cannot be too busy.
The logo playfully ties together crown and paint. Please send me something with this level of genius/insight/clarity
The logo works very well with the company and what it sells
the bike, though complex, is a gives an emotional statement about the company
Very simple with a good use of typography
The giraffe is beautiful and works in monochrome as well as color
The condor is both representational and realistic giving it an authority and power

Again, we are using 99Designs as part of our deliverables to the client and and the logo will be white labelled as such. The logo should be fun, but classy that will appeal to higher net worth individuals with a sense of adventure. The emotional feeling of trust and value should also be conveyed through the colour and typography. A stand alone logo would be preferred - although, if you have a genius idea for a logotype, please present it.
