Plant Sap Analysis Infographic
Check out akempf's Infographic contest…
Story to tell in the infographic
We are looking for a highly skilled designer who can develop an infographic that will detail the steps of a sap analysis test in an easy to follow, visually interesting way. The infographic must make the process of a sap analysis test look simple and clear, not lengthy or complicated.
Data to include in the infographic
The steps to include in the infographic are: Heading and Description for Each Step: (1) Fill out sample order form The form includes fields for your field, crop, variety, and number of sample sets needed for that field through the year. (image idea) Farmer typing on a computer? Consultant talking with farmer and pointing to a screen? (2) Receive sap labels One sap analysis sample consists of 2 labels, one for a sample of old leaves and one for a sample of new leaves. (image idea) Fedex truck (3)Collect sap samples Collect the leaf samples (image idea) Hands picking leaves, old and new on same branch, or with arrows pointing to which leaves to take, maybe with the ziplock bags half-filled? (4) Ship the samples to the lab Pack the samples with frozen gel packs for shipment to the lab (image idea) Very clear overhead view of an open box being packed with insulation, bubble wrap, leaf sample bags, and gel pack. (5) Receive emailed results from lab When the analysis has been completed, the reports are automatically emailed to you and your consultant. (image idea) Inbox image? Farmer studying on phone screen/ consultant on their computer. (6) Work with AEA consultant to interpret sample reports Understand which nutrients are in excess or deficiencies and look for the key relationships and ratios that determine optimal nutritional balance (image idea) (7) Adjust your nutrition program based on the test results Apply products to address the deficiencies and excesses. (image idea) sprayers (orchard sprayer) (8) Perform follow-up sap analyses Observe dramatic changes in nutritional integrity from product application (image idea) jumping up and down with a fist pump (9) Harvest a high-yielding, high-quality crop Sap analysis helps you equip your plants against pests and diseases and provide the nutrition needed for a high-yielding, high-quality crop. (image idea) truck full of bins of peaches (10) Re-evaluate early spring/late fall fertilizer applications Re-evaluate early spring/late fall soil amendments and dry fertilizer applications based on sap data which reveals periods of nutrient excess and deficiencies, to provide nitrogen, potassium, and calcium at periods of peak demand accounting for timing of nutrient release (image idea) tractor pulling an anhydrous tank or a dry fertilizer spreader
Elements to include in the infographic
The infographic needs to include visuals, a heading, and a short description of each step. It also needs to include the AEA logo but not necessarily in a prominent spot. It should also include the title: "The Sap Analysis Process". The color scheme could be (but not mandatory) around the two greens from the sap samples: Hex #007F00 and Hex #9ACC00
Here is a video that explains what plant sap analysis is: https://youtu.be/5ygc5MqRfkY I also attached a plant sap analysis report so you can see what a report looks like.
