caseymilone got their new icon or button by running a design contest:
Lumit AR app icon
Check out caseymilone's Icon or button contest…
Lumit is an Augmented Reality app overlays video reviews on top of products that the user is holding in a retail store.
What's your vision?
A user walks into a store, want's to learn more about a product that they're holding in their hand. They open up the Lumit app and point it at the box. The app recognizes the product and overlays a video window on it (the video looks like it's attached to the front of the box, when seen through the app). That video is a top rated YouTube review of the product.
What we're looking for here is an app icon that can be used in multiple ways. 1. as the app icon on the phone's home screen. 2. as the button within the app that starts the image recognition of the product the user is scanning. 3. possibily as an icon that sits over top of the box, showing that the video is loading. I know it's a lot to ask of a single icon. So it's possible that we'd not use it as the button within the app if that just didn't work. that button could just as easily be a camera icon that we pull from google's material design set. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. If you just search youtube, you can find all sorts of examples of Augmented reality. Look for something that shows a video overlay.
