Vitor_P got their new icon or button by running a design contest:
Create visuals to describe appropriate clothing for the weather
Check out Vitor_P's Icon or button contest…
The 'Should I?' home display uses our cloud recommendation engine to display to users what clothes to wear. This recommendation comes in forms of Bitmap Icons on an E-Ink display with a resolution of 800x600. I've attached below a picture of the display.
What's your vision?
We have a section of the display that will be used to show the icons for what to wear. This entire space is 150pixels (width) by 320pixel (height). We will be displaying up to two icons at a time, one that we call the accessory and one that is the main icon. There will always be a main icon but not always an accessory. Please keep this in mind for icon sizing purposes. We need main icons designed for the following weather types: 1. Freezing 2. Cold 3. Chilly 4. Hot We need accessory icons for the following: 1. Snow 2. Rain 3. Chance of Rain 3. Sun The space will always show the main icon and may or may not show one or more accessories. As an example, we have been using the following images for all of these icons: Freezing - Beanie + Gloves Cold - Jacket Chilly - Sweater Hot - T-Shirt Snow - Shovel Rain - Open umbrella Sun - sunglasses Feel free to adapt on the ideas that we have already been using or create a new icon. Just remember that all icons should be representing items of clothing that a person should wear in case of each weather type. For example - Do not make an icon that has a cloud and rain falling from it. This is not a clothing item.
Let me know if I can clarify anything else further. It is important to remember that the full space available is 150px by 320px and we will always have a main icon. The icons should be sized appropriately so that all main icons seems to be the same size, while accessory icons may (they don't have to be) smaller than the main icons but all accessory icons should be relatively the same size also. I've attached one of the example bitmaps that we have been using so far and I've also attached an image of the full eink display. Please use this as reference. The icons that are being requested for this project will only be displayed inside of the 'Wear' section that you see on the display.
