Entertainment & The Arts
I am an author of this short story collection which I am going to publish on Kindle very soon. A book is judged by its cover! This cover image will have a direct impact on my readers' purchasing decisions and so a high quality cover image is an necessity for me to inspire customer confidence and boost sales.
What's your vision?
I need book cover art that is of professional quality. I want a cover that when someone sees when on Amazon, they will click and check it out. An attractive cover. A cover that implies it is a short story collection if possible. There are eight stories. The overarching theme, roughly, is derived from the title. How a freckle could form over a scar. How something, anything could come from pain or a scar. Healing even further after pain. I don't want a book cover that is gender specific (ie that definitely has a female/ male on it) which is why I also don't like concept of faces/ profiles for this cover. Try other body parts. Alternatively, I was thinking of several (or eight fracture points since that's how many stories there are) slivers of glass taped over well enough that it seems mended. But if you want to try and come up with a more literal illustration of freckles over scars go ahead. Include also my author name, Ryan Starbloak (Starbloak is one word!!) and the title, "Freckles Over Scars". Furthermore with the title, I would like it to appear with each word below like Freckles Over Scars Almost like a fraction or division set-up, but not quite. All look, if you think that looks like shi* & you've got a better idea, I'd like to see it. I saw one submission just one though that had "Freckles Over Scars" on one line and it looked awesome. -Please make sure all submissions are in Amazon Kindle cover format standards (https://kdp.amazon.com/help?topicId=A2J0TRG6OPX0VM) as I will be uploading it there. That's it. I don't need to see how it looks on a coffee table or how it looks as a real book or the back cover. I just need the cover to be in that standard.
Stories include: "Ghost Eggs"- light-hearted parody of a ghost haunting a lesbian couple. Ghost is driven out by reality tv ghost hunters and the couple comes to miss said ghost. They go through lengths to fill the void of the ghost. Is silly. "Theta"- an account of several people going through a day in which their decisions are based on deferred desires for a future that is not guaranteed. Is stern. "Counterfeit Money Tree"- reeling from the loss of his girlfriend, Tommy wrestles with the question of is it better to be alone or to play third wheel to the strangest people he knows. Is odd. "Beauty Takes Time"- Marcus and Roger meet every year to settle something. Instead they play cards. Also interlaced is Grace, the head of a film extras affiliation throwing an after-party where she meets a young man named Drew. Is tragic. "The Vagina In Every Man"- a philosophical speech centred around the premise of gender equality by use of genetically modification. Is thoughtful. "Max And The Generic Cold Spider"- set in the future UK, drug policy has become lax and alternative measures are taken to prevent kids from becoming addicts. Every fifteen year old must try heroin. Max and his friend Paul's time has come and though they are excited, the burden of their Decision Night threatens their youth. Is intense. "The Unthoughts"- a series of violent deaths continue to occur in Allan's village. Most believe it to be the work of a sorcerer, but Allan is convinced a logical explanation is just at his fingertips. Problem is, as soon as he finds out the truth, who could he tell? Is creepy. "I Play Pool"- this novella is Jimmy Fencoast's account of his license suspension. He begins to diet, tackles the difference between bored and upset, and will never drink Caldwell's again. Using his recent sojourn to the Philippines as a puzzle for must solve for happiness, he reflects upon his suspended summer. Is happy.
