Cannabis The New Way
John Ince is the author of seven books. His diverse background as a lawyer, entrepreneur, seminar leader and mediation practitioner inform the innovative approach to cannabis that this book describes.
The non-fiction book describes the author’s discovery of a radical New Way to use cannabis, in mindful disciplined Sessions designed to enhance your happiness and personal development.
The audience for the book consists of educated individuals of all ages who may or may not have previously consumed cannabis. The may also be interested in yoga, meditation, self-improvement, protecting the environment, and meeting new people. There are more women than men in the audience.
I favor these guidelines in the design of this cover: 1) the cover must grab attention Careful color of the background and text is probably the main way to do this. 2) all the text must be easy to read even in thumbnail (167px wide x 250 px high) This probably means devoting more attention to the text font and text size than any other design element. 3) a reader must be able to instantly grasp the nature of the book The text is the main vehicle to do this, but if there are any design features than can assist a reader’s comprehension, then they should be employed too. 4) The emotional tone of the cover must be gentle, warmhearted, inviting Perhaps color is the main design element conveying emotional tone, and it and the other design elements should help the reader feel safe and secure. Colors that appeal to women might be the best bet. TEXT The text is probably the key design element of this cover The main title is Cannabis The New Way. It has 2 parts. The first is the word Cannabis, and the second the words The New Way The first is the most important and could be highlighted in a different color than the other 3 words of the main title. The first letter of each must be capitalized (you may choose to capitalize all letters of all letters of the main title or just the letters of the first part.). The subtitle is How I Found a Powerful Tool for a Happier Life and Planet. Note the capitalizations and lower case words. You could choose to capitalize the entire subtitle, but maybe not. The most important word in the subtitle is Happier, which might (or might not) be emphasized in some way. COLORS As mentioned above, the colors need to be warm and inviting, especially to female readers. IMAGES The most obvious is an image or graphic of a cannabis leaf. Do not use images of cannabis cigarettes or smoke. Given the importance of the text, and the amount of the text on this cover, there may be limited or no room for images.
