Entertainment & The Arts
Audio Issues(www.audio-issues.com) gives you a solid understanding of the various aspects of producing music. You'll get easy to use, practical production tips about music production and audio recording. I try to give you everything you need to know when it comes to producing your own music in your home recording studio. I’ve taken my musical knowledge from playing in bands, my grunt work in live sound and my education in audio engineering and packaged it all here for you to enjoy and improve your skills in audio. My audience are predominantly male, aged 25 - 45. They work with all sorts of musical genres and they usually have small home studios where they record themselves but sometimes other bands. So the design can't be too specific on one particular genre (for instance, nothing too "metal" or "hard rock" because I don't want to alienate anybody who doesn't like those genres.
What's your vision?
I need a book cover for a book called: Title: Step by Step Mixing Subtitle: How to Create Great Mixes Using Only 5 Plug-ins Author: Bjorgvin Benediktsson It's about mixing music and music production for home studio musicians. I want it to convey simplicity and a "step by step" process so it can't be super busy as a cover. A few things regarding the design: 1. I will be selling this book on Amazon so people need to see immediately what the book is about through the title AND subtitle when they're browsing. 2. Steve Scott's covers are a great example of when the title/subtitle really stand out in the design and are readable. See multiple examples in my References but his author bio with more is here: https://www.amazon.com/Steve-Scott/e/B0098NFKNM/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1?qid=1476984912&sr=8-1 Please browse his catalog of books to see how he structures his title/subtitle and design. Simplicity in the background image is probably best then but I'm also open to creative ideas. 3. Amazon shrinks book covers all the way down to 90 pixels in width in certain places. It is very important that you can still read the title AND subtitle at this size. 4. I'm basing this book off my course: Mixing With 5 Plug-ins(www.mixingwith5plugins.com). I've attached the PSD to that product poster but I don't think I want it to look the same. It can be similar in style and/or color scheme though. The file is too large to upload so here's a link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32637420/poster-final%202.psd.zip 5. I've attached some stock photos you can use in the design but please don't let these photos limit your design ideas. I'd like love some originality as well! Please remember that it's most important to emphasize both the title AND subtitle over any images :)
I like simple covers that are modern. I like lighter to medium colors. Very dark or black covers won't be attractive to me. Emphasis on the title is very important but it will need an anchor image/background of some sort to convey the "Music production/mixing" topic of the book, although it can't be too noisy or loud. Nice color scheme of only a few colors that complement each other is important. Through a brief browse on Google I found some great articles about good cover designs: https://www.thebookdesigner.com/2010/12/15-ebook-covers-success-and-failure-in-the-kindle-store/ http://digitalpublishing101.com/digital-publishing-101/part-2-preparing-source-files/ebook-cover-design/ But of course, you're the designers so I leave it up to your expertise! :) The book will be mostly used in a 2D image format on Amazon but it would be nice to see the cover as a 3D image for promotional purposes.
