I need a cover for my latest thriller, THE FOURTH MONKEY (ebook and print). The book has been compared to SEVEN and SILENCE OF THE LAMBS so the cover should convey a similar message. Here's a summary of the book: The Four Monkey Killer (hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil, do no evil) has been tormenting the city of Chicago for nearly seven years. After kidnapping his victims, their family receives a series of packages over a weeks time - first their loved one's ear, then their eyes, then their tongue, ultimately their body along with a note "do no evil". When a man is killed by a city bus while attempting to mail a small white box containing an ear, they know the killer is dead but there is no identifying information on the body, his fingerprints aren't in the system... they know he's kidnapped another victim and she's still alive, but where did he stash her? They have no clues, no leads, other than a handwritten diary found on the killer. One that details his life, why he's done what he's done, and hopefully offers enough to find her before it's too late. Here are some spoilers from the book which may help you with ideas: - The diary found on the killer reveals a tortured childhood told from his point of view at 12 years old. Both his parents were killers and he grew up watching them. Any images of the diary (such as the text "hear no evil, see no evil..." should be written in the scrawly handwriting of a child. - The girl he kidnapped is trapped in a pitch black room approximately 10 feet square
Here is some info for the back cover of the book (fit what you can): For over seven years, the Four Monkey Killer has terrorized the residents of Chicago. When his body is discovered, the police quickly realize he was on his way to deliver one final message, one which proves he has taken another victim, a victim who may still be alive. As the lead investigator on the 4MK task force, Detective Sam Porter knows even in death, the killer is far from done. When he discovers the killer’s personal diary, he finds himself caught up in the mind of a psychopath, unraveling a twisted history in hopes of finding one last girl, all while struggling with personal demons of his own. With only a handful of clues, the elusive killer’s identity remains a mystery. The police have little to go on. Time is running out and the Four Monkey Killer taunts from beyond the grave in this fast-paced thriller reminiscent of Se7en and Silence of the Lambs. Editorial Review, Fresh Fiction "This was hands down the best novel I've read this year." Editorial Review, Word Gurgle "The plot is great. The action doesn't slow down for a minute.
