Style: For cover art style I am looking for something that is based in realism that has a cinematic quality to it. A good example - style wise - would be AG Riddle’s novel Departure which you can view here http://www.amazon.com/Departure-A-G…B00QEC0LRU
Cover Image: An adult “Worker” - facing the viewer - is down on one knee in front of a 5-year old girl who we see only from behind. She is in pig tails wearing a cute, little dress. Her hand extends towards the “Worker”, offering him a bright yellow dandelion she had just picked as her other hand hangs behind her back. The “Worker's” hand is on its way towards the flower. In the reflection of his face shield you can see the girl’s shy, but curious face that is tilted slightly.
A small bumble-bee flies near the young girl.
Surrounding the lighter colors of the characters, the flower and the bee - there is no other color. No shadows, no light, no change from light to dark - just pure black all the way to the edges.
The only other thing on the cover is the title of the novel and my name.
Again, the title is kIngless, all lower case except for the letter “I”. Important the letter “I” must be the capital letter “I” that has the top and bottom horizontal lines - see attached image of the letter.
My name to appear on the cover is S.C. Bonner.
Fonts: Font is very important for me. For the title of the book, a thicker font that again has the “I” is what matters. My name should be a simpler, thinner font.
Description of the “Worker” - Obviously the “Worker” is essential to the cover art, so here is a brief description of what one looks like.
An adult “Worker” wears a form-fitting, full body uniform with no skin showing. Every piece of clothing - small, tight gloves, shoes, round, thick helmet - is all one color, “Battleship Grey” (see attached image). Covering their face is a seamless, highly reflective, rounded shield that has the tint of ‘Aviator’ Sunglasses (see attached image of Police Officer Ponch - love you Ponch!). We cannot see the worker’s face at all.
Back Cover Art:
Extremely simple, all black besides the copy with the exception of a laid out ice-hockey jersey towards one of the bottom corners. In the book there is a popular fictional NHL team called the Dakota Oxe, beloved by all Dakotans. Colors of the jersey are a soft orange and white - just two colors.
I would love for you to create a cool, hockey emblem that can be shown representing the Dakota Oxe for this image. This is of course secondary to the front cover artwork, but it would be great to get this accomplished too. For inspiration on hockey jersey concepts please visit - http://www.icethetics.co/ - I have a thing for hockey!
Back Cover Copy:
Top of Back Cover: Would you choose to be kIngless?
Below the Top Section Copy:
Alex Steeber, a man who is at his 55th birthday party in a land in which he is only allowed to be 56...
The year is 2082. The country of Dakota has undergone immense change ever since their citizens adopted a newer political and socio-economic philosophy entitled Bourneism. The subscribers to Bourneism live in a society without money or a traditional economy. In Dakota, youth is cherished, valued and respected. People of Dakota are given their time back to pursue their purpose, rather than their sustenance. And in Dakota, no one works… that is until the day after they turn 56 years of age.
