Science Fiction Series
What's your vision?
We need an e-book cover for “Scion”, which is the first book in a Young Adult Science Fiction series. This is a series about a young woman, Rachel (Ray), who’s a bit of a cross between Tris Prior (Divergent) and Buffy. Humans are undergoing a radical jump in evolution and Ray inherits the ability to manipulate weather, but this is revealed late in the first novel. Ray is a five-foot seven, seventeen year old, with an athletic build and wavy, shoulder-length brown hair. She has brown eyes, and fair, smooth skin. Clothing styles have changed but not radically. Ray does like to wear an armband. The setting is a future Washington DC. It’s wealthy, cosmopolitan, but has been rebuilt centuries after an apocalypse. It would be cool to see one of the monuments showing signs of having been rebuilt after having been partially demolished. Another possible background structure would be a huge, glowing Hill, a domed energy source the size of a small mountain, that also features prominently in the story. If there are signs of a storm it should not be clear that Ray is the cause, because that is a late reveal. Ray has two love interests, both her age. Steven is working class, white, five-eleven, nicely muscled, with short brown hair, blue eyes, and is rarely clean shaven. William is rich, slim, and clean-shaven, with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes. We’re looking for a professional-looking cover that will catch the eyes of the YA audience. Be creative! Once the basic cover are is selected, we’ll supply the pen name and text for the back cover.
A clarification on the 'Hills'. The term 'Hill' is the nickname for the Dome, because they are so big. They are _not_ mountains. There is one Dome near each major city that generates all the power for that entire city, but they were accidentally built too close to the cities, and emit some of the the light they capture back toward the city. At times the citizens even need sunglasses, when the domes re-emit too much light. It's a technology with a bad side-effect, but they are too valuable as an energy source and too expensive to move/fix.
