I write technothriller novels.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
The novel is "And on the Eighth Day." It is a technothriller novel set in the near future (2050ish). The author is "Joseph John." I am currently publishing it as a 7-part serial but will compile it into an omnibus edition with your cover. Note the technothriller aspect of it deals with genetic engineering. The book begins with the main character in New York City, where he works as an investment broker. A stranger warns him, "They're watching you," and soon thereafter, the stranger winds up dead. A veteran detective is assigned to the case. Over the course of the investigation, the body disappears from the morgue, a van tries to run over the detective, assailants shoot up the detective's house in a drive-by, and the main character disappears from his apartment. The detective discovers the main character's identity has been wiped from all public records, and the first half of the book ends with an assassination during a political debate. The main character appears to die. In the second half of the book, the main character wakes up in Amarillo, Texas in a new life. He lives on a ranch and is married. However, he remembers bits and pieces of his life in NYC. When he confronts his wife, she tries to kill him. He flees and goes in search of answers, returning first to his hometown in Ohio. Here he discovers the house he remembers growing up in doesn't exist. The bad guys, who work for a powerful corporation, catch up to him, but he gets away. He flees back to New York City to find the Detective, who will help him confront his pursuers. Note the main character has competing sets of false memories, and one of the themes is a shattering of his memories between his life in NYC and his life in Texas. WHAT THIS COVER SHOULD BE: The cover should say classy technothriller, and look like a bestselling book. No tacky looking thrown together stock photos. This should look like a top notch, high quality book. No cheesy blood effects or horror type fonts. I also do not want images of characters on the cover, as I prefer to leave their appearance to the imagination. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: I need a 6x9 300 dpi (or higher) cover for print (will also need spine and back done, though we can work this from a PSD file) I also need a 2400x2400 300 dpi version for the audiobook version.
Here is the book blurb for the novel: Death is not the end. Shawn Jaffe, a broker at an upscale investment firm in New York, receives a cryptic warning from a stranger. At first, he dismisses it as the ravings of a madman. But the stranger winds up on the wrong side of a bullet, and Shawn finds the threads of his reality unraveling around him. Aided by veteran Detective Sam Harrington, he sets out on a quest for answers that threatens the foundation of everything he thought to be true about himself and his past. The two find themselves caught in an elaborate conspiracy: the stranger's body stolen from the morgue, a kamikaze van aimed at the detective, a plot to assassinate a presidential candidate. For Shawn, surviving the expanding chaos is impossible, but on the other side of death, the mystery only deepens. Pursued by relentless adversaries who seem to know his every move before he makes it, Shawn must sew the shreds of his frayed reality back together and discover the truth about who he is before they catch up to him and end him, this time forever.
