Nerd Herder Press LLC is a consulting and publishing house. We consult with Government and Industry on software and IT matters. We also publish books on a diverse set of topics. Our target audience is technical managers and business owners who have to work with engineers on websites, databases, and software systems.
What's your vision?
We need an exciting book cover for "The Nerd Whisperer", a book about how to understand and work with software engineers. The book is a management book but it’s presented in a light and respectful way. Engineers are almost always introverts while their managers are almost always extroverts. This book helps those extroverts to understand the power of their introverts and how best to interact with them so as to let them do what they are so good at doing. In one section I describe the natural tension between software engineers and testers in a fictional visit to a marriage counselor. I have sections on conducting remedial small-talk training with socially awkward engineers. Introducing the engineers to the users and refereeing the exchanges, etc. What I'm looking for is something catchy, that will display well on Amazon thumbnails that conveys the typical interaction between managers and engineers. Managers trying to be bold, invigorating, and "leaderful" and engineers staring at their shoes or checking their smartphones. Mangers asking for status and getting one word replies that are indecipherable. Engineer's being baffled by the users and vice versa. I have no artistic talent at all, so I share these ideas perhaps solely to amuse you. Please use your best judgement. That is, after all, why I came to you. Image of manager in cube farm talking to bored engineers. Image of manager trying to coral cats image of manager leading in one direction while engineers go in other direction That said, an all text version might also work just fine. This work is based on my 32 years of being in this industry but it's supposed to be a fun read. That's possibly the most important thing to convey.
I'm using Createspace so I'd like a cover per their specs. I've attached a PDF and PNG copy of their layout and the instructions for that are here: https://www.createspace.com/Products/Book/CoverPDF.jsp?sitesearch_query=cover%20pdf&sitesearch_type=SITE I've also attached a text file with the text for the back cover and an "About the author" blurb. Also attached copies of Nerd Herder Press's logo to be included on the back cover and spine. Title is: The Nerd Whisperer Author: David A. Oppenheimer
