Entertainment & The Arts
I'm an indie author launching a series of books set in a 1920s Hollywood studio.
What's your vision?
I'm looking to have the book cover for the first book in the series ("Hollywoodland") designed. There will be ten books in total (over years!) so I would be coming back to the same designer to adapt the design for later books - so that there's a kind of master look for the series, with maybe different images for each book. The pitch for the overall series is: The series revels a forgotten Wild West Hollywood - frenetic pace of the 1920s, everyone making it up as they go along, bohemian, cacophony of creativity - and increasing conflict with repression elsewhere in America. It’s an international world - dominated by immigrants and women, where anything goes. The super short pitch is: Downton Abbey meets Entourage. So key ideas are: pace, glamour, Bohemian, larger than life. It's a fun, 'me time' read, so shouldn't feel too much like a Historical Novel. I've attached some images from magazines and movie posters from the period - I like the idea of something within that style, or at least that evokes it in some way. The first book is called "A Girl of London" and it should say "Hollywoodland Book One" somewhere. There will be both physical & e books, so the design should (ultimately) work for both, though this time around the focus is on the e format.
I will need the webpage and social media branding designed in the not too distant future, and would most likely work with the same designer one-to-one, so it would be great to have a design that would translate well to banners etc.
